The Youth Leadership Program stands as a transformative initiative designed to cultivate leadership skills among high school students and teachers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, offering them a distinctive four-week experience in the United States.
Since its inception in 2017, Terra Art has played a pivotal role in co-organizing this program, extending its reach to students and educators from diverse cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, encompassing a tapestry of local communities that mirror the country's rich diversity and administrative nuances. This program empowers participants to delve into the intricacies of individual rights, societal rules, and responsibilities, utilizing American democratic values and culture as a guiding framework. Successfully implemented in high schools throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina for over two decades, the program sees six students and three teachers from three different cities traveling to the U.S. from each generation. During their stay in the U.S., participants actively engage in a spectrum of workshops and volunteer initiatives, immersing themselves in the essence of community involvement and the invaluable principles of multiculturalism. Upon their return, they collaboratively contribute to projects that hold significance for their cities and the communities they call home. Year after year, high school students and teachers from diverse corners of Bosnia and Herzegovina exhibit unwavering enthusiasm for participation in this program.
Since Terra Art joined in organizing the initiative, over a hundred students and educators have seized the opportunity to explore the unique cultural tapestry of the United States. Participating cities span Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka (repeatedly), Bijeljina (repeatedly), Stolac, Visoko, Travnik, Široki Brijeg, Žepče, Maglaj, Tešanj, Tuzla, and Busovača.
